Warren Gorge camping ground is twenty one kilometres north of Quorn via Arden Vale Road. A dirt road leads you through the gorge which opens up to a undulating wooded area with rocky hills looking down on the camp area. Here, campers can be one, two, three hundred metres apart. The gorge is also home to the endangered yellow footed rock wallaby.
Rocky outcrops of the stunning red cliffs.
Wombat rock. Yes, it's a rock and Wombat is not its official name but I did think it looked like a wombat.
Here we enjoyed a night free from noise from the outside world.
RAINED before we'd even got to bed! Despite the rain we managed to make a lamb shank stew on a camp fire. Next morning, no sun as it was raining, but woke to the sound of magpies and kookaburras.
I spotted a number of yellow footed rock wallabies in the dry creek bed which was a treat. After breakfast we packed up and drove out through the gorge just as the sun broke through the clouds. We stopped and took some photos and drove back to Quorn, another quick drive through another town and we pointed the car towards Hawker taking a break at Death Rock, the water hole and Yourambulla Caves.
