Almost a Pub Crawl.

We were up early this morning to enjoy the steamy waters of Bitter Springs.  Both Andrew and I went for a dip at the thermal pool.  After we had packed up our camp we drove into Mataranka proper and visited a gallery before driving along to the Mataranka Springs.  Must say, even though the Mataranka Springs are a bit more 'civilised' I found Bitter Springs more to my liking.  We finished off our stay at Mataranka with a walk through the tall palms of Mataranka Springs and a stroll to Roper River.

Our journey then took us further south along the Stuart Highway to Larrimah where we discovered the pink panther at the Larrimah Wayside Inn.  This establishment was an unexpected sight!  Out here, people, it seems, will do anything to attract a bit of the passing trade.

The Sign Says it All.

Mark, is there any hope for this one?
South even further and we arrive at the turnoff to the Daly Waters Pub.  Just what this pub is doing at this location beats me!  The place was swarming with tourist and travellers were itching to find themselves a camp for the night at the adjoining caravan park.
Poultry roams the street, the population numbers eighteen and it seems to me there's not much to do besides dining and wining at the pub which has a weird collection of items in and around its premises.  Items ranging from bras to signed shirts and caps, a drop bear and a mannequin on a toilet bowl suspended precariously on some strange looking frame.

The Daly Waters Pub boasts the remotest traffic lights (permanently stuck on red) and parking meter.
Dining in at night requires reservations, especially on the first of July, which is a public holiday in the Northern Territory, for "Territory Day", and on which Territorians are permitted to purchase and set off fireworks.
Honey Pie seemed quite nonplussed about all the fuss and insisted we travel further along the Stuart Highway until we got to Dunmarra Wayside Inn where we booked in for the night.
Do three pubs/inns in a row, without drunkenness constitute a pub crawl?
